Isla Mujeres Elopement | Ida + Jason

Ida and Jason decided a destination elopement on the Mexican island of Isla Mujeres was exactly what they were looking for to tie the knot. They reached out to us at Isla Mujeres Elopements to help plan and photograph their intimate destination wedding and we were thrilled to help them see their vision through!

I first met up with Ida and Jason at Lotus Beach Hotel where they were staying. It’s a beautiful seaside boutique hotel with only a few rooms. They had their ‘first look’ in the garden area and the look on Jason’s face when he first saw his bride was so incredibly sweet! After the excitement of these first few moments together in their wedding attire, we headed to Punta Sur for a pre-ceremony session. Punta Sur is the southern most point of the island and where the sun first kisses Mexico each morning. We took photos around the volcanic rock and sea walk while the waves crashed below. After some time there, we headed to our private beach location for their intimate ceremony. Alejandro played Spanish guitar while Jason and Ida walked down the aisle. The sun was shining brightly when their ceremony started, but about half way through, it started to rain ever so lightly but for only a little bit. Their ceremony encompassed a water blessing and a petal toss into the sea in additional to words of love for each other and God. After the “I DO”, they popped a bottle of champagne to celebrate as we continued to take photos on the beach through sunset while Alejandro played Bossa Nova music in the background.

What a magical day for a beautiful couple. We at Isla Mujeres Elopements couldn’t have been happier to coordinate and photograph Ida and Jason’s destination elopement on Isla Mujeres!
